Cent, I'm glad the visit went well. If you haven't had glasses before, (I think you have but I've been suffering a lot of CRS lately) it may take a few days for your eyes to get used to not working I've heard in the same way and for the headaches to stop. This picture is very easy on the eyes so thank you for easy eyes!
That can also be true if ones new glasses are significantly different from the old ones. For something on the order of three decades, my glasses prescription changed very little, to the point where my original glasss were easily still good enough to pass a driving test at the point I got my last prescription update before stuff started changing more.
Then I came down with MS. MS can affect many things, including causing more significant prescription changes. My next prescription wasn't all that much different than before.
Then COVID made going to the optometrist much more difficult than it had been. For the first time in my adult life, I went more than two years between eye doctor visits. My MS medication makes me more vulnerable to any novel pathogens, so I've been refraining from going out for anything not strictly necessary. Eventually, it got to the point where it was clear that an optometrist appointment was strictly necessary.
My next pair of glasses was at least as difficult to get used to as my first pair had been. The pair after them has not arrived yet, although I'm not anticipating them being too bad, as it's less of a prescription jump than the last time.
Is varifocals what we call progressive bifocals in USA? The top is far, the bottom is near, and the middle zone changes from near to far smoothly. People going to bifocals or progressives may have to practice moving their head up and down so that you are viewing through the best section. When driving, I also found that I needed to change the tilt angle on the seat to have the best vision. So play with head position, seat position, and screen locations a little.
At one point I was starting to getting headaches and eye pain from extended PC use, started using my old driving glasses while using my desktop and the issues went away in a few days.
